About this event

San Francisco Opera stages Jules Massenet’s Manon at the War Memorial Opera House. The French-language production uses English supertitles and explores a young couple’s relationship under pressure from wealth and social expectations.

Seven performances are published between October 15 and November 1, with evening and matinee times shown separately. Tickets are advertised from $30, subject to the chosen seat and performance. The stated running time includes two intermissions; it is not used to invent a precise finish time. Livestream access is a separate option from attending in person.

Program

1. Jules Massenet’s opera is sung in French with English supertitles. Eun Sun Kim conducts; Amina Edris and Pene Pati lead the cast.
2. The October 18 matinee is followed by a talkback with Eun Sun Kim and Trey Costerisan. Balcony OperaVision screens are offered for October 15, 18 and 21.

Public transportation

Civic Center BART/Muni and Van Ness Muni stations serve the Opera House area. The venue recommends allowing time for the walk from the station.

Before you go

Use 301 Van Ness Avenue for rideshare. Tickets are scanned before bag screening; a clear bag is not required. Bags should fit under your seat or on your lap, about 14 × 14 × 6 inches. Larger items require coat check.

Parking

The venue lists Performing Arts Garage at 360 Grove Street, Civic Center Plaza Garage at 355 McAllister Street and Opera Plaza Garage at 601 Van Ness Avenue. Fees and availability depend on the garage.
